# ASC Theatre Camp The American Shakespeare Center Theatre Camp (ASCTC) is an immersive, residential summer intensive for young actors in Staunton, Virginia, home of the ASC's Blackfriars Playhouse. Campers live in a Mary Baldwin University dormitory, rehearse in university theaters, and work daily with ASC actors, professional directors, and scholars. Two three-week sessions run each summer - in 2026, Session 1 began June 14 and Session 2 began July 12, with an Extended Experience Week between. ## What You'll Do - Rehearse and perform a one-hour version of a Shakespeare or other early modern play as the session's culmination - Train in text analysis, stagecraft, voice, and early modern staging practices - Take classes, lectures, and workshops with ASC company actors and renowned scholars - Attend professional productions at the Blackfriars Playhouse ## Who Should Apply Young actors ages 13-19 who want serious classical training in a residential setting. Tuition for 2026 is $3,975, covering lodging, meals, and show tickets; a $150 deposit secures an accepted spot. Financial aid is offered, including an award of at least half tuition for military families (2026 aid deadline was April 15). College credit is available. ## Outcomes Campers leave with a fully staged classical performance credit, conservatory-style training from a professional Shakespeare company, and audition-ready classical technique.
