# Stone Soup Stone Soup has published exceptional stories, poems, and art by young people since 1973, and today it operates as an online literary project of the Children's Art Foundation. Young writers submit work year-round through the site's submission form, and accepted pieces are published on StoneSoup.com alongside a century's worth of archives, anthologies, and annual contests. Editors read for voice and risk-taking: the magazine says it wants 'literary works that speak from the writer's heart' more than technically perfect but safe writing. ## What You'll Do - Submit stories, poems, essays, memoir, reviews, or opinion pieces in English through the online form (a parent or guardian signs the application for minors) - Optionally include an illustration, photograph, or painting to accompany your work - Enter longer work automatically: all submitted novels and long-form fiction are also entered in the Stone Soup Annual Long Form Fiction Contest - Hear back quickly - the editors aim to respond within two weeks ## Who Should Apply Any writer or artist age 18 or younger, anywhere in the world; there are no length limits, and middle school writers are squarely in the magazine's tradition.
