# ZooTeen Volunteer Program ZooTeen is the Minnesota Zoo's summer volunteer program for teens ages 13-17 in Apple Valley, Minnesota. ZooTeens are the backbone of the Zoo's summer camp season: they escort groups of younger campers around zoo grounds — including behind-the-scenes areas — assist camp instructors with crafts and activities, and share their enthusiasm for animals and the natural world with the next generation of zoo visitors. ## What You'll Do - Guide and track groups of zoo campers throughout the Minnesota Zoo, including behind-the-scenes areas - Assist camp instructors with crafts, games, and educational activities - Serve as a role model for younger campers - Complete volunteer training before the camp season begins - Earn benefits including free zoo admission for you and your immediate family, plus gift shop and concession discounts ## Who Should Apply Teens ages 13-17 (13 by June 1) who enjoy working with kids, love animals, and can commit to a summer volunteer schedule at the Zoo in Apple Valley. Applicants attend an information session with a parent or guardian to learn about tasks, scheduling, and training expectations before committing. ## Outcomes ZooTeens log substantial volunteer service hours, build leadership and communication skills by working with campers and Zoo staff, gain an inside view of careers at a major state zoo, and earn family admission and discount benefits.
