# Governor's Honors Program The Governor's Honors Program (GHP) is Georgia's flagship residential summer program for skilled, knowledgeable, and talented high school students. Finalists spend four weeks in mid-June through mid-July living and studying on a host university campus — Georgia Southern University in Statesboro hosts the Summer 2026 session. Tuition, room, and board are covered under appropriations made by the Georgia General Assembly, so there is no cost to attend. ## What You'll Do - Study your area of nomination — academic, world language, or fine-arts disciplines — well beyond the standard high school curriculum - Live on campus for the entire four-week residential term alongside finalists from across Georgia - Take part in the seminars, performances, and campus activities that fill out the residential experience - Advance through interviews or auditions at the state semifinalist event if selected from the nominee pool ## Who Should Apply Current sophomores and juniors enrolled in a Georgia public school district, independent school, state charter, or homeschool. You must be nominated through your school or district's local selection process. Nominees receive access to the state online application on November 14, and the application is due January 9. ## Outcomes GHP is highly competitive — over 4,000 students are nominated statewide each year and roughly 20 percent or fewer are invited. Finalists complete an intensive month of college-style study at no cost, a distinction recognized across Georgia schools and colleges.
