# Precollege Summer Experience The Precollege Summer Experience (PCSE) at the College for Creative Studies is a three-week studio immersion in Detroit for high school students serious about art and design. Working in one concentration for the full program — July 12-31 in 2026 — students produce college-level work under CCS faculty and leave with both a stronger portfolio and college credit. ## What You'll Do - Choose one studio concentration, such as 2D hand-drawn animation, character concept and visual development, drawing and illustration, film and photography, fashion apparel or accessories design, painting/ceramics/metals, product design, or transportation design - Spend full days in the studio plus open studio time, guest-speaker sessions, and campus activities - Live on campus (over 90% of participants do) or commute; residents receive room, board, and most required materials - Earn 3.0 college credits ## Who Should Apply High school students building a portfolio for art and design school. Tuition in 2026 is $3,995 residential or $3,645 commuter, and full and partial tuition scholarships are offered through a general summer scholarship application (due March 31 in 2026). ## Outcomes Students finish with transferable college credit, portfolio pieces developed with professional critique, and — if they later enroll at CCS after completing PCSE with a C or better — eligibility for a $4,000 PCSE-to-CCS scholarship.
