# AU High School Summer Scholars AU High School Summer Scholars is American University's fully online summer credit program for high school students. In summer 2026 it runs June 22 - July 17 in a self-paced, asynchronous format on AU's Canvas platform - no live sessions required - which makes it workable alongside jobs, sports, or travel. Students take one college course taught by AU faculty and earn official university credit. ## What You'll Do - Enroll in one of seven courses spanning artificial intelligence, criminal justice reform, reproductive rights law, international business and globalization, diplomacy, neuroscience and psychology, or sustainable development design - Complete weekly readings, media, and assignments on your own schedule over four weeks - Engage with AU faculty and fellow pre-college students through structured online discussion - Earn a graded college course on an official American University transcript ## Who Should Apply The program is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. It suits students who want a genuine (not simulated) college course from a national research university in Washington, DC - especially in policy, law, international affairs, and applied social science areas where AU is strong - without leaving home. ## Outcomes Participants finish with three transferable AU credits, an official transcript, and evidence of college-level readiness for admissions. Tuition is $1,044 per course.
